I’m a 20F and have been practicing MMA for a year now. There is only another girl in our academy who is 18yo.
Since we are the only women the coach always put us to train together. Coach usually tells us to use 10% strength when rolling/sparring to focus more on our techniques, but she uses close to 100% with me.
Whenever I tell her about it, she says that she barely used any strength and that it’s the technique and not her.
A few days ago when we trained in BJJ the coach told us to focus more on wrist grabbing, and when I rolled with her she grabbed my wrist so hard that it still hurts. I couldn’t even lift weights at the gym because my wrists hurt so much.
It happens when we’re sparring in Muay Thai too. She would kick or punch me hard that I’m left with bruises. I once felt dizzy and had to stop after she jab me in the face. It would be okay if we were meant to use 50% or more strength but it shouldn’t be like that on 10%
She also never waits. If I tell her to stop because I need to fix my shin guard, the moment I finish fixing it she continues sparring. Even when I’m still halfway bent. It also happens when we train while other spar around us and we need to move to avoid hitting someone – even when I’m still not in proper stance she will still hit me.
Up until now, I have been putting up with it because I don’t want to sound like I’m complaining about everything. I know what I signed up for and I know I can get hurt there. It’s not the problem here, I also spared with other guys I did get bruised here and there. We used around 50% and it was fine because it was agreed before, and they respected it.
