How do fighters usually feel about being cans or journeyman?

How aware are they of the whole thing? Obviously they know they’re worse, but do they see themselves as a can? Are they happy about getting to fight a great fighter? Do they think they’re going to win and cause an upset? Or do they know their role and do it for a paycheck (I know in boxing a lot of journeymen ‘know their place’)

I understand every person is going to be different, but I’m curious what the general mindset is
